Music service provider Omnifone has hired Jez Bell as its new director of licensing. Bell joins from PRS for Music, where he focused on online, mobile, broadcast and recorded media licensing.
Now he’ll be in charge of Omnifone’s global licensing efforts, as it builds on deals for its cloud music service with the likes of Sony Network Entertainment – it forms the basis of the latter’s new Music Unlimited offering.
“I’m looking forward to working with the Omnifone to develop innovative global licensing deals which deliver value to consumers and viable revenue streams to our partners and rights holders,” says Bell.
Bell will report in to Omnifone CEO Jeff Hughes. It’s a good hire for the company, with Bell having previously worked on landmark PRS deals with iTunes, YouTube and MySpace.
